Alyssa Wilkins began her experience as a troop leader for her daughter, as many volunteers do. When her daughter, Odessa, was old enough to join Girl Scouts, she jumped at the chance to form a troop. Since last year was their first year as a troop, they needed funds—that’s when Alyssa knew Gifts & Goodies would be the perfect solution to not only fundraising but some great Girl Scouts experience.
For this young Meadville troop, door-to-door selling has been crucial. They have found success not only from a fundraising perspective, but also in the skills the girls are gaining. Every time they go out to sell, they come home with a newfound sense of confidence, leadership, and independence.
The Daisy troop has used their proceeds to do so many fun things—camp day trips, hiking, holiday parties, hikes, and other adventures that Alyssa says might not be possible for the girls without the help of Girl Scouts and the Gifts & Goodies program.
